As finals are in full swing and stress is increasing, three students from the Amsterdam University College (AUC) have decided to put even more pressure on themselves. They have taken on the task of performing a musical that, ironically, themathises the stressful nature of student life.
Since November 6 AUC students have been participating in the Mental Health Awareness Week, an initiative organised by Peer Support. Peer Support, a student support group, organises this event annually as a way of raising attention to mental health care at AUC.
When going to university for the first time, students are thrust into a new environment with lots of strangers and a lot of confusion; which is why intro-week plays a vital role for first years at AUC.
According to senior tutor Huan Hsu, an estimated 10 to 15 percent of AUC student are on academic probation. The term is used by universities all around the world but at AUC, some students are still confused about what exactly it entails.
