On Tuesday, September 16, AUC’s Communication Team sent out an email to current students formally announcing the new interim dean, Bruce Mutsvairo.
As a professor in Media, Politics and the Global South at Utrecht University, Mutsvairo has an extremely broad background, having travelled across the US, South Africa, and Canada to teach at universities all across the globe. Mutsvairo has also completed his PhD at Leiden University.
Mutsvairo also has a background in Liberal Arts and Sciences, having graduated from University College Utrecht (UCU) back in 2004, and has been a lecturer at AUC in the early 2010s. “Returning to AUC represents a deeply personal and professional aspiration to collaborate with staff, students, and the college’s partners, along with colleagues at UvA and VU, in building a shared vision that helps us collectively respond to the challenges and opportunities ahead,” writes Mutsvairo in the email.
Mutsvairo will begin his term as dean on October 1st, 2025, which will continue for the next two years before the selection process will begin once again.
