An AUC veteran is soon to depart. Dr. Michiel van Drunen will step down from his position as Director of Education in mid-January. Van Drunen announced his departure in an email to the AUC faculty and other governing bodies in the beginning of November, as various sources have confirmed to The Herring.
Van Drunen has already found a new position. He will succeed Dr. Rob de Crom as Director of Education at the VU School of Business and Economics (SBE). De Crom himself has been appointed managing director at the SBE. At the time of publication, a successor for van Drunen’s position at AUC has not been announced.
With van Drunen’s departure, one of AUC’s most experienced and long-serving faculty members will be leaving the institution. He officially joined AUC as the Head of Studies Sciences in August 2013, and has been serving as Director of Education since September 2017. Besides his managerial tasks, van Drunen has also been teaching various courses such as Introduction to Environmental Sciences and Introduction to Energy, Climate and Sustainability (both until 2019) or Advanced Research Writing.
A formal announcement of van Drunen’s departure is expected to be shared with students in the coming weeks.
